2023 Athena Literature and Art Award

        The Athena Literature and Art Award is an important prize established by the Athena Culture and Education Foundation in the field of world literature. Similar to the Athena Dance Art Award, this award is an integral part of the Athena Global Cultural and Educational Arts Selection and the Athena Art Award.
         “Journey with Love, Portraying Human Civilization with Words!” – The Athena Literature and Art Award consists of three major categories: World Literature and Art Award, Future Literature and Art Award, and Children’s Literature and Art Award. Its purpose is to discover and encourage literary works that embrace inclusive and open-minded thinking, possess cross-regional and cross-cultural characteristics, and have positive significance for the inheritance, exploration, and innovation of human civilization. Any unpublished and original works are eligible for application, and the award is open to people from all walks of life worldwide, regardless of status, economic background, age, gender, language, ethnicity, nationality, or geographical differences.

About Us
        The Athena Culture and Education Foundation was founded in Houston, USA, and was jointly established by outstanding individuals with international influence in the field of world culture and art. The foundation aims to promote the discovery and integration of the inherent spirit of human culture and art. By establishing the Athena Award, alliances, scholarships, and other diverse services, it encourages and assists individuals who have a deep love for art and culture and possess exceptional inner spirits. Regardless of differences in skin color, language, ethnicity, region, time, or wealth, everyone has the opportunity to discover, enhance, showcase, and pursue their dreams, making them an indispensable part of human art, culture, and inner spirit.

Awards and Prizes
        The Athena Literature and Art Award consists of three major categories: World Literature and Art Award (1 winner, $1,000 prize), Children’s Literature and Art Award (1 winner, $1,000 prize), and Literature and Art Nomination Award (10 nominees). The award is presented every two years. The award winners will receive a certificate, medal, and cash prize jointly awarded by the rotating chairman and chairman of the Athena Culture and Education Foundation. Additionally, every finalist, regardless of winning or not, can apply for an evaluation certificate (Art Guide) issued by the award committee through the necessary procedures.

Candidates and Scope
        The Athena Literature and Art Award is open to individuals worldwide, regardless of status, economic background, age, gender, language, ethnicity, nationality, or geographical differences. All are eligible to apply, be nominated, and participate.

Schedule
        -The selection process consists of three stages: application, preliminary selection, and final evaluation.
        -The application stage starts from July 1, 2023, and ends on October 31, 2023, during which entries will be accepted.
        -The preliminary selection stage starts on November 1, 2023, and ends on -December 15, 2023, during which the finalists will be selected.
        -The final evaluation by the award committee will take place from December 16, 2023, to December 24, 2023.
        -The official announcement of the awards will be made on December 31, 2023.
Note: During the Final Evaluation stage, each finalist will receive a notification email from the Jury Committee confirming their selection. After going through the necessary procedures, the finalists have the option to submit an application to the Jury Committee to obtain a work evaluation (Art Guide) issued with the committee’s endorsement. Whether or not they win an award, this “Work Evaluation (Art Guide)” will be sent to the applicants in written form after the official announcement of the awards as a guiding document for the artistic evaluation of their submitted works.
        The “Work Evaluation (Art Guide)” requires a separate service fee, but it is not a mandatory requirement for the final evaluation and does not determine the outcome of the awards. Applicants are free to decide based on their own needs. For specific details, please refer to the notification email for the finalists.

Election Rules
        Language of works: English. Non-English works from other countries are also accepted.
        Genre: Novel; Word count: not less than 100,000 words.
        During the application period, candidates must submit a work summary (within 300 words) and a story synopsis (within 2,000 words). The complete work should be submitted before the application deadline.
        Regardless of the length, all works should be submitted in electronic document format to the designated email address.
        For non-English original works that qualify for the final selection (foreign language works), an English translation must be submitted during the final evaluation phase. If there are difficulties in translation, candidates can apply for additional language services from the jury committee. However, candidates are responsible for the necessary language service fees, which can be decided upon receipt of the final selection notification email.

Jury Committee
        The Jury Committee consists of the rotating chairperson of the Athena Cultural and Educational Foundation and members of the Athena Cultural and Educational Foundation’s board of directors.

Application and Fee Waiver
       The “Athena Literary and Art Award” does not charge any registration fees, and anyone can submit their application for candidacy to the jury committee through the designated email address of the “Athena Literary and Art Award.”
        During the final selection phase, candidates can choose additional services such as “Work Evaluation (Art Guide)” and “Language Service Support” based on their own circumstances and pay the corresponding service fees.
Note: The technical service fees for “Work Evaluation (Art Guide)” and “Language Service Support” are collected by authorized third parties. These fees are not prerequisites for winning and will be decided by the candidates themselves upon receipt of the final selection notification.

Application Method
        Please send the application works via email to the official and designated email address of the “Athena Literary and Art Award”: Athena.foundation@Outlook.com
        The electronic manuscript of the work should be sent as a Word attachment. The email subject should follow this format: Literary Work “Title of Work,” Author’s Name, Application for the Athena World Literary Award. For example: Literary Work “Bridge of Rainbows,” Author Emma, Application for the Athena World Literary Award.
        In the email content, please include a brief overview of the work (within 300 words), a synopsis of the work (within 5000 words), and provide the author’s real name, gender, nationality, date of birth, profession, mailing address, as well as important online contact information such as phone number and email address.
        For non-English original works that are selected as finalists (foreign language works), a complete English translation must be submitted no later than the final evaluation stage. For specific details, please refer to the notification email for finalists.

Election Commitment
        The submitted works must be original and unpublished. The copyright and intellectual property rights of the works belong to the authors and should not involve plagiarism or infringement of others’ copyrights.
        The organizer assumes no legal liability for disputes related to rights such as reputation, privacy, copyright, and trademark. The legal responsibility lies with the participants themselves, although the organizer reserves the right to use media for promotion.
        Regarding award-winning works, unless otherwise specified, the Athena Culture Education Foundation holds the priority publishing rights and full-media promotional rights of the awarded works. The foundation will actively create opportunities for the winners, including publishing the awarded works, promoting the copyright overseas after publication, conducting worldwide market promotion, and organizing publicity activities for the awarded works.

Precautions
        By participating, participants are deemed to automatically agree to all the terms and conditions of the selection process.
        If there are any changes to the selection terms, they will be notified on the official website. If participants do not accept the modified terms, it will be considered as voluntarily withdrawing from the selection. If participants do not inform the organizing committee of their withdrawal within five working days of the announcement, they will be deemed to have accepted all the modified content.
        If no one confirms or claims the award within five working days after the award notification is sent, it will be considered as an automatic waiver. The Athena Cultural and Educational Foundation reserves the final interpretation rights of the selection.
